What Our Beneficiaries Said

Jim Sowe

Accountant & Auditor, Zenith Bank
It is hard to express in words what “Mboutou Trust Fund” has done for me. When I look back on my undergraduate education from 2015 to 2019 in the University of the Gambia, I will always remember the incredible generosity and support of “Mboutou Trust Fund”. I can say with absolute certainty that “Mboutou Trust Fund” does impactful work and that they truly care for my success of being an Accountant and an Auditor.
As a result of “Mboutou Trust Fund” investment in my education, I have been able to fully pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and Alongside to get the scholarship of the government of India to Pursue my Masters in Advance Accounting and Auditing in 2020 to 2022, and focus on being involved in Accounting and Audit project teams, and seek hands-on experience in internship program in 2018 with Supersonicz the microfinance. During my undergraduate education, I have held internships with Supersonicz Microfinance Credit department and Later being moved to Internal Audit and later being employed by Zenith bank in their operations department, I had my first experience in Credit analysis relating to pure finance and Audit works relating to Internal controls and risk management. At Supersonicz Microfinance, I obtained valuable knowledge of Credit analysis, internal audit. At Zenith bank, I had an exhilarating experience in tellering and back office operations. All these experiences were a direct result of “Mboutou Trust Fund” support of and belief in my education. Without this support, I would not be where I am today.
The support from the “Mboutou Trust Fund” has been the catalyst for my educational and career accomplishments. Without the burden of financing my education, I have been able to pursue my interests in Accounting and Auditing, work on building my resume, and hold leadership roles in the student organizations which I am heavily involved in.

Omar Cham

Nursing Officer at Edward Francis Teaching Hospital
I am so very grateful to have been given the opportunity to immerse myself in all aspects of university life, because of the wonderful scholarship awarded to me by “Mboutou” I have accomplished much of what I never thought it will never be possible without the substantial support given to me by “Mboutou”.
Today I can proudly call my self a Nursing officer working at the Edward Francis Teaching hospital at the accident and emergency unit which is the only main referral hospital in the Gambia serving more than two million people. This has given me the opportunity to support many people from diverse communities who needs medical attention in the Gambia.
That been said, I believed I have grown and change so much over the last four years for the fact that coming from a very poor family it would have been difficult to accomplished this milestone without the maximum support of “Mboutou ” I am now a final year masters student in public health at the prestigious University of The Gambia with a specialty in health promotion . this degree has given me the opportunity to attend international trainings and today I can proudly call my self a certified Basic Emergency Course master trainer in the Gambia.
Finally, I want to say a very big thank you Mboutou for having so much impact in my life.

Mbye Jobe

BSc. in Economics from University of The Gambia
As a student, receiving or achieving highest level of education was always my dream and the dream of my family. Just after completing my WASSCE exams, being informed that there’s already a scholarship package waiting for you to sponsor your university education at the University of the Gambia was the greatest joy I had ever received and experienced in my life and to my family.
The Mboutou scholarship has given me the opportunity and the strength to complete my bachelor’s degree without any financial burden to me and my family, which could have been a challenge to my family and could have cost me not to be a bachelor’s degree holder and ended my educational career during that period. The scholarship kick-starts the light in me and gives me the opportunity to focus on my studies and being able to bring the best in me and being able to graduate among the best students in that year.
Today, I am pursuing my master’s degree in Italy, at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, this could have not been realized, (after the Creator’s decree), if the Mboutou Trust Fund didn’t have intervene at the right spot to give me the chance to hold a bachelor’s degree, or it could have been very difficult for me to realize this today.
With sincerity, I and my family are so grateful to the Mboutou Trust Fund from the core-founders, the sponsors, the executives, the active and the dormant members for their resources and time they have invested in my life. Long Live Mboutou Trust Fund!

Awa Cham

Law Student at The Gambia Law School
I am indeed grateful to be admitted into the Mboutou Trust Fund scholarship from 2017 to 2021. The scholarship has really impacted my academic life and brought me closer to achieving my career goals. In 2021, I graduated from the University of the Gambia Faculty of Law and holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB). Thanks to Mboutou Trust Fund for the scholarship and for ensuring that my tuition fees are paid regularly in a timely manner. Having an opportunity to be admitted into the Gambia Law School commonly known as “The Bar” (a one-year professional training for people that wish to be lawyers) is something to be proud of. I am happy that Mboutou has built up the foundation through providing me with a scholarship to pursue my Bachelor Degree. As a result, I gained admission into the Gambia Law School for another development in my career journey. In conclusion, I must state that Mboutou Trust Fund Scholarship has impacted and still continue to impact my life both academically and financially.
